The Search for a Perfect Phone

So guys, here's the deal: my phone got snatched. On our way home, my boyfriend and I thought that it would be SAFER to put both of our phones inside his bag, rather than hold it, so we did – without knowing that the person beside him, along with two other men were planning to rob him. The person beside him cut the side of his bag, taking both of our phones. We only noticed this when we arrived home and I started to look for mine.

I wasn't able to sleep for a few days now. It happened last Sunday, and it is only today that I find something good out of it. First, I would be able to change networks. Second, the money might be used to provide a decent Christmas Eve dinner for a family, which I am so hoping for. Lastly, I have just recently discovered that searching for a cute phone is really fun, the only down part is that it was unexpected, hence we don't have the budget to buy a new one. Sigh. I still miss my phone though. It was Darrel's gift to me when he returned from working abroad. It had a really big sentimental value, but alas, one cannot rewind time no matter how much we wanted it. What's gone is gone forever.

So going back, I have discovered that there are two ways to having a cute new phone. It is also good to take note that both of my options are cheaper compared to a normal-phone-buying-budget, haha.

FIRST OPTION: A CHINA PHONE.

China phones are all over the place. I found stores the other day that offer Hello Kitty units. Just looking at them is so much fun already. A saleslady told me that these phones looked like toys and she discouraged me to buy it, that I should opt for a more expensive and more decent looking one. After assuring her that this "look" was what I really want three times (kinda annoying), and after discovering that I wasn't going to buy a unit yet, she finally stopped bothering me and started giving me disgusted and annoyed glances (LOLs). Yep, needless to say that she was pretty rude so I transferred to the next one, where the saleslady was even more than graceful to show me a pink version of the blue HK phone one that was on display.

They all look really cute, but an online friend Athena has discouraged me from buying China phones. She bought one herself, and eventually sold it for it had some difficulties on message sending, and China phones could not be customized with themes and ringtones. What's a girl gonna do?

SECOND OPTION: DECO A PHONE HIME STYLE.

The second option is buying a normal Nokia phone, one that is just enough for me to install themes on. I'm used to using this brand of cellular phones, so regarding the messaging and other issues, I have already tested it reliable and handy. I didn't have problems with it in the past, as well as I haven't used another brand aside from it. To make it cute, I could buy it a clear case and put decora on it. I found yummy tutorial videos on youtube, like the one below (though it's for an ipod -- I can't find a decent video for a phone, it's the same process so no worries), on how to put deco on things, as well as cute inspirational pictures.

I have decided that even though I don't choose this option, I would still try my hands on putting deco on my other items. Hime, by the way means "princess" and this branch of Lolita fashion means dressing up and living like a princess – making everything cute but still elegant and royal.

Please help me decide. I really can't decide on my own. Teehee.

Linkies!
Hello Kitty Multiply Shop (Philippine-based) - Everything HK, not just gadgets. Cute site! she also has an actual retail shop at Dasmarinas.
Deco-Den - I love this Tumblr of everything deco! Yummy.

Cheerio!

Oh no! It's sad to hear that you lost your phone. My dad gave me a China phone before but it didn't last long. Well, I did accidentally drop it but still. I suggest you get a cheap Nokia phone. They last long and they serve their purpose well. :)

Teehee, thanks Jorj. So that's one vote for the Nokia phone, still zero for the China one. Haha. Pero oo nga daw, isa pa yun sa mga concerns ko rin...

oh man you lost your phone, whatta bummer huh? X( those guys will meet with karma soon!!! lol I once loved Hk cellphones! they're so cute!!!! but then again.. I hate the white screen while texting and the font is so thin. >< so I sold my HK phone and never again will I buy one! :)) Although there are some very nice HK phones that has a very cute theme, very pricey tho, like 20K-30K... ><

I say go for the cheaper ones coz you'll never know if you'll get robbed again right? There are lots of nice Nokia phones that are below 20K too.. :) Goodluck on your cellphone hunting! :) Update us if you've bought one! ^^~

@ Yona: Thanks for the link, i'll definitely check that out. Haha. Hmmm, ok so 1 Nokia, 1 China.

@ Mizuki: True! That is one of the main reasons why I want to get something cheap. Plus, I don't want to be emotionally attached with a phone again. Sigh. Anyway, 2 Nokia, 1 China.

-- OK. So my father already gave me the money. I found out that the China versions of Nokia are also available especially the express music one which I wanted before. So I'm really thinking hard about it. Kinda like China and Nokia in one, right? I could also put themes on it, of course, and I could always deco if I want. Hmm..

Oh no! Sad naman yung about your phone sis. Be more careful nalang next time. Talagang marami ng mga taong mapagsamantala these days.0.o

Mahal nga mga phones ngayon eh, I'm hoping to have an iPhone nga pero that's near to be impossible.
I suggest you to buy a NOKIA phone instead of buying a China one. Magsisisi ka sa china phone sis, I promise. Almost all of my family members uses china phones, ako lang yung nokia. :) Kasi hindi ako makapag-iinstall ng themes, games, and konti lang ang memory card space ng china phones.

Low quality pa and irritating ang mga ring tones. :( So yea sis, I suggest you buy a nokia phone =)

ohmygosh. i can't believe it! aww, good luck finding a good phone! but i don't think you should get a china phone ... really bad quality. maybe you should get a pre-paid phone? those which you have to buy the cards instead of contract?

@ Athena and Toni: Nakabili na'ko. Oo mas gusto ko na nga sana talaga ang Nokia na lang ulit. Kaya lang hindi ako binigyan ng ganon kalaking money (kasi hindi nga napaghandaan, haaay), and I already need a new one so badly. Sigh. It took me a century to find out that I really don't have any choice, haha. With the amount that my father gave me (2,500php), wala talaga akong mabibiling Nokia, so I settled (I hope it's temporary), for an "iPhone" China.

@ Orville: Ano?!! WAAAAHAHA. Anyway, sige since my new one is only temporary (I hope), iccheck-out ko rin ang Ericsson next time. :)

@ Ariel: Sigh. I figured I don't have enough money to buy me a sturdy phone, soooo..I still settled with the China one. But I WILL save up for a non-China phone. I WILL. Haha.

Sorry for losing your phone.. Nagkalat talaga mga snatchers! Err..

I also suggest that you buy a Nokia phone or anything branded. Kasi tried and tested na, sure na yung quality nya compared sa China phones. Malay mo yung China phone mga ilang weeks lang, wala na. At least kapag branded, sure ka na magtatagal talaga. :D

Anyway, ang cute nung pic!
